Nursing Strike and Sebastian's First Wedding

Our little guy just had his first nursing strike today, and lasted about a little over 7 hours. But when he breastfed after 7 hours, it wasn't as long as I expected it to last. So technically, he is still on strike. I've read about this being common with teething babies, along with being irritable, and it lasts for one to two days. I just hope he goes back to his normal self. He is calm now, and watching Barney as I type.

================================

Yesterday, Sebastian attended his first wedding. Our friend from church Joy & her longtime boyfriend Jamy wed last night at Fernbrook Gardens in Alabang. It was a beautiful wedding, and the couple looked very blissful and happy. I am just proud to say that Sebastian didn't cause any commotion and was very well-behaved. Although he fussed a little, he was easily calmed by feeding. Not the expressed milk I had in his bottle, but I had to excuse myself to the ladies room to feed him. No biggie though, and pretty soon he was one happy baby again. He slept through the reception, which was perfect for me and Bondi because we were able to eat straight without incident. Here are some shots from last night:

Procrastination and Sebastian Updates

So, I've been out of the blogosphere for quite some time now. I don't know what it is, but somehow, I couldn't find time to write, though there are a lot of free time on my part. Maybe it's because the Internet is not as fast as what I'm used to, or maybe it's my brother Ian or my dear hubby hogging the laptop and desktop to play DOTA. Maybe it's because of my weird body clock (awake in the wee hours and asleep during the day) or maybe because Sebastian's growth and development are so quick, my typing couldn't catch up. Okay, okay, too many reasons but it is really because I am procrastinating. There's just too much good stuff, it's just hard to take some time off from baby to blog. Let me see how many I can remember to write down.

Going back to how Sebastian is doing, there is quite a long list of what he can do right now. I actually started a few entries the past few weeks, but couldn't finish (baby's still priority over documenting it). Plus, there's so many photos, I just don't know where to start looking and choosing. Maybe when I feel up to it, I might try to publish the draft entries I started.

Sebastian just turned four months last Monday. We celebrated it again, with cake and some food, like we always do every 23rd of the month. He also had his 2nd round of immunization that day. He has grown a lot, about 16 pounds heavy and about 25 inches long. His hair and eyelashes has grown too. He talks a lot (he's been cooing and babbling since he was a month old), and his repertoire of syllables and intonations are much broader. He can convey what he wants through his facial expressions, actions, and tone of voice. Like how he cries in protest if he wants to be picked up, and once you're carrying him, he bears weight on his legs and make sounds to make you stand up, and once you're standing up, how he kicks his legs to make you walk around with him on your arms. And then he's calm and settled. That's how he makes us carry him around the house. Who could resist his cuteness?

He drools, and sucks his fingers, maybe to relieve pain from his two front teeth making its way out of his lower gums. But then again, he loves to suck even before the teeth came. It's funny how he laughs and smiles and responds to us, and I just feel like I am the luckiest mom to have him look at me a special way as I feed him. So darn cute!!! He bears weight on his legs as I hold him upright (he loves to play "Ten Little Monkeys"), rolls over easily on both left and right sides, but yet to perfect a 360 roll (or turning back ).

And I guess I better be careful with what I say or do as early as now because he copies what he sees, like chewing for example. I was eating some chips yesterday while he was on my lap, and he had this curious look on his face. He looked at my hand with the chip, looked at my mouth, how I put the chip in, and how I chewed deliciously. By dinnertime, I saw him on his bouncy seat, putting his finger in and out and started chewing vigorously. He's pretend eating! And oh, how he makes that wet, razzling sound! He loves to play with his drool and mouth by making bubbles and razzling. And did I mention how he loves to play peek-a-boo and that he can even do it himself by covering his face with a blankie. We crack at how he smiles and make funny faces in the mirror.

I just can't believe how fast everything is going. Gone were the days when it was only eat, sleep, pee/poo. Now, we have to be careful with stuff lying around as well. He reaches and grabs whatever interests him. He also goes in circles in his crib. He gets bored too, so either you go out for a stroll, give him a new toy, talk to him, read him a story with pictures in it, or have him watch Barney. I don't know what it is with this purple dinosaur, but babies just love it. We get a kick out of watching him squeal in delight and move his arms and legs like crazy watching the show. We put him on a booster seat now (but he hasn't started on solids yet, not until 6 months as he is purely breastfed), and he even tries to sit up by himself on the bed.

I could go on and on and not get bored of telling you how great it feels to watch your little one grow before your very eyes, and how each time he reaches a certain milestone makes you wanna leap for joy. It's also fun to see pieces of me and Bondi in him, not only physically, but also in manners. Pretty soon, it'll be like watching our little hearts-fused-together running around laughing. Sigh!

Sebastian's 4th Month

Here's what happened this month:

He loves to play peek-a-boo, even covers his face with his "blankie" by himself to play it
Still screams at the top of his lungs
Sits on his booster seat
He is rarely bottlefed, but if he does, he holds his bottle by himself
Smiles or laughs back at himself in the mirror
Sleeps on his side
Rolls over (both right and left side) without any effort but hasn't turned back yet
On stomach, lifts head up 90 degrees
Prefers human interaction to his other toys
Sleeps longer, and waking hours are also longer
Loves to suck his fingers
Drools a lot, and can even get his drool back up his mouth (eeewww!!!)
Tries to sit up when propped
Closes and opens fist at will
Two front lower teeth are starting to make its way out (I know, early, huh?)
2nd round of immunizations
Loves to watch Barney
Squeals in delight
New set of hair starting to grow (quite obvious)
Loves to "stand" as he bears weight on his legs when pulled to a standing
And with that, he loves to play "Ten Little Monkeys (Jumping On The Bed)"
He loves picture books, and enjoys story-telling/reading time
Loves going out
Has a variety of tones, and sounds (as if words)
Reaches and grabs
Chews! (He copied this from me one time)

Zoobic Safari

Taken on June 8-9, 2008 at our trip at Subic Bay, Olongapo City. The highlight of our trip: Zoobic Safari. It is one of the tourist attractions in the former US naval base. It features a tiger safari ride which will take you to close encounters with tigers while being fed with a dressed chicken.

He rolled over!

Today marks the day Sebastian first rolled over - and without any effort! He's been turning side to side for quite a while now, but today was the first time we saw him do a full 180. Our little Sebastian has grown quite big now, and he talks up a storm, complete with facial expression and different intonations as he babbles. I wonder what he's saying, though. He laughs a lot, and he also loves to look at himself in the mirror (he smiles and laughs at himself, making funny faces). He gets cranky when he's bored, but he's very happy each time he goes out to see the world outside our room and our house. He can also sit upright with a pillow under his back. We prop him up on his stroller, on pillows, on the couch, and he also sits on his booster seat now (though we don't feed him solids yet). I can't believe how time flies! Pretty soon, we're back in the Bay Area, and soon enough he'll be experiencing his first snow (we'll make it a point to drive up), then his first birthday.
