Flu Shot

Today, we brought Sebastian to see his Pediatrician whom he hasn't seen since April 15 of this year, a few days before we left for the Philippines. He still remembers every bit of our little boy (I guess he would since he was the one who took care of him when we rushed him back to the ER the day we got discharged from the hospital from giving birth to him, and has taken care of him ever since) and likewise, Sebastian was still very comfortable with him and showed his best behavior. Good thing we still continued on his immunization schedule and only missed his next doses of PCV (Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine) so there was no need to pick up where we left off in terms of vaccines. He did get his first flu shot today (and I'm mighty proud of my brave boy who didn't even cry - well, he protested a little bit each time the needle pokes him through but was okay afterwards) which I think led him to having a fever tonight. He still eats and breastfeeds well, though so I guess it's no biggie.

I was actually looking forward to this checkup so the doctor could address his eczema. He has flare-ups in his creases (which has gone a little better since we got here) and some are even starting to get infected due to his scratching. Now I'm glad we have a prescription for antibiotics and a higher dose of hydrocortisone to ease his itchiness. I just hope he outgrows it like most of them. But going back to his well-baby check, I found out he actually lost weight and is now only around 19 pounds, on the 12th percentile in terms of weight, but is standing tall at 29 inches or 2'5" high, putting him on the 62nd percentile. His head circumference, as usual, is on the upper percentile (86th). Hmmm... he must have big brains, LOL! All in all, I am just so happy that his growth and development are normal. The doctor even said he's a little advance in his skills and other developments and will probably be starting to walk on his own soon as compared to heavier babies.

He fell asleep early but woke up after just an hour or two, with no fever and as active as ever. He stayed up until past midnight. Sigh!
